“In ancient Mystery Traditions, the ‘forest’ is the sacred place where the hero awakens to the Light of Knowledge.
An example for all, the cycle that links Lancelot to the search for the Grail.
Through this Mandala, Giada explores and manifests the relationship between nature, a primordial representation of which is the forest, and super nature, of which the forest is a cosmic symbol.
From virgin nature as a naturally supernatural medium, the Mandala ascends to supernaturally natural nature. In other words, this conception of nature, which was that of all cultures prior to the modern western world, is the true and ultimate reality of each of us, since we ARE Nature, both in its finite and temporal manifestation and in its infinite and eternal manifestation.
‘Sacred forest’ presents a graphic design that is unique in Zammitti’s production; the ancestral forms of Meso-American and Siberian Shamanic Cultures impose themselves in the work. Everything is stylised, essential, bare, fundamental. The leaves alchemise the basic biology with the underlying earth element, down to the mineral base, enhanced by the blade tips. The spheres radiating from the centre project the infinity of possible worlds. The centre is the absolute Sun, the centre, the source of power.
At the edges of the square blaze flames of pure energy; at the bottom, to the right, four squares symbolise the Tetrakis, or finite perfection.
The colours could only be black, green, yellow, and red; absolute stasis the first, pure dynamics the other three.
This is one of the artist’s most complete and perfect mandalas, simple and true, out of time, and therefore for all time.
Impossible not to be enraptured.”
WHAT IS A MANDALA
A mandala is a sacred geometric design that originated in ancient religious and spiritual traditions. It is often depicted as a circle with intricate patterns and symbols radiating from the center. The word “mandala” comes from the Sanskrit word for “circle,” and it represents the universe or the sacred space within it.
Mandalas are used as tools for meditation, spiritual reflection, and personal growth. They are believed to help individuals connect with their inner selves, find balance and harmony, and tap into a higher state of consciousness.
The design of a mandala is highly symbolic. The circular shape represents wholeness and unity, reminding us of the interconnectedness of all things. The center of the mandala is considered the focal point, representing the center of our being or the divine essence within us.
Creating or engaging with mandalas can be a transformative practice, offering a pathway to inner peace, self-discovery, and spiritual growth.
